GE1501 Project
A flood-simulation carnival game. Build a levee in 30 seconds, then see what survives the marbles.
The Goal
Design a carnival game around a real engineering failure. We chose the levee failures during Hurricane Katrina. Players press a button to start a 30-second timer, build a levee from blocks, and then a servo releases marbles as floodwater.
Photoresistors under each town piece detect when it gets knocked over. The house is worth 50 points, the building 30, and the tree 20, so the score drops from 100 as pieces fall.
What I did
I owned the frame. I drew every panel in AutoCAD, laid them out for the laser cutter, cut them, and assembled the final structure after painting.
My teammates wrote the Pico code and wired the electronics (Shayla Nguyen, Naveen Neveroski), designed and printed the town pieces (Jada Williams), and painted the frame (Shayla Nguyen).
